One of the biggest problems flash designers/developers face after publishing their work over the internet, is that soon or later will noticed their work are stolen, or at least their code. Why, because the majority of the “flashers” don’t protect their movies by encrypting their files.
Using a Flash Decompiler, is very easy to get all the movies and code from a website. However, if you encrypt your data, they will get only errors.
SymplyShed released the second version SWF Protect, which let’s you encrypt your SWF and AS files preventing from being decompiled by other programs such as Sothink SWF Decompiler or Flash Decompiler.
The process is very easy and quick, just some clicks and drags and in less than 10 seconds you have all your files protected. Just to have a clearest picture on how it works, check out this screencast.
This encryption tool was tested with:
- ASV 5.21
- Flash Decompiler v3.2
- Imperator FLA v4.0
- Sothink SWF Decompiler v4.5
- Ave Imperator
Another good aspect of SWF Protect 2.0 is the price. It costs $40.00, cheap price compared with other competitors products. For example, the Kindisoft lite version costs $100, the standard $200 and the Amayeta SWF Encrypt $150. As you can easily check, we are talking in differences between 2.5 up to 5.0 times more.
We are givingaway 3 licenses of SWF Protector. How can you win one of them?
Drop a comment about SWF Protect. Only one entry per person is allowed. On the 1st of June we will randomly choose 3 entries and contact you.
Update
Here are the three winners an email will be dispatched to you. For the other that commented and didn’t win, Paul has offered a $9.95 discount for anyone who commented while the competition was going. To claim this, please email support@swfprotect.net
And the winners are:
- Peter Franco
- Devon
- Renoir
I’ve seen how effective the earlier version of this was in a demonstration, what has changed in this latest version?
i would love to have a copy
I was waiting for that! Great job.
Just try it~
Wow! Great, I would test it with pleasure:)
I tried it and it works great. I would love to have a copy.
never tried such tools, but i should give it a try
While I see why people would want to encrypt their work, I have learned tons of stuff by looking at recompiled code. I didn’t even know you could encrypt your code.
Now, though, I think I will have to start.
I participated in the beta testing of SWF Protect and it worked great. I’d love a 2.0 giveaway…
Cool. I was wondering how to protect some of my swf. It seems to be a nice, not only for code, but also things like api keys in flash, or server url…
I hope to be one of the randomly picked comment : ]
I could give it a shot
Looks like a very useful tool for a reasonable price. I have an upcoming release of a site and will definitely consider your tool for some needed IP protection.
I use SoThink, eager to see how this stands up against it…
Nice tool, anyway somehow sad that such things are required at all… :-/
Great software! Looking foward to win a licence!!
Very interesting! But does the price difference reflect in the end result, compared with the more expensive encrypting solutions?
Great, I’d like to win a license. I only knew about Amayeta SWF Encrypt but 150$ seems too much for me. BTW I didn’t get if it can encrypt the resources as well. I assume not.
Better protection and it works with all the latest flash and windows, better interface etc, good buy not expensive. Like danger says just try it and let me have a copy while your at it.
SWF Protect is a great product, Ive used it at several agencies. Ive actually decompiled a protected SWF and it’s pretty useless. Ive also had an instance or two where the file size has actually REDUCED after protecting the SWF. Pretty impressive. Would love my own copy.
Be interesting to see how effective this is, whether it purely obfuscates or crashes decompilers.
It looks very interesting. I would like to give it a try.
Me too
It’s always nice to see efforts on the protection of data. Although SWF being an open format makes this impossible to people with enough knowledge and time…
Sign me up for the contest.
I need it!!!
I really need one of these.
Would love to participate in the give-away also
.
For Dutch readers, here’s a nice speech on hacking SWF games and how to prevent this from happening, using, among other solutions, a SWF-encrypter: http://www.adobeusergroup.nl/site/list_messages/274
Thanks a lot. I’d like to have it.
Want it too !
I personally don’t see anything wrong to decompile to see how something ticks…. however if you just copy and paste the code then that is where I have a problem. Well since others will probably have this then I’m down for protecting my work too…
The price seems really worth it. We have tried different tools, but eventually they were able to be opened up using decompilers. Lets see how this works. Anyways will love to have this product added to our pipeline.
From what I’ve read and from watching the screencast this product looks quite impressive. I’ll be looking forward to trying it out sometime
Thanks for providing this opportunity to maybe try out this product. Let’s see if I win.
thanks for this info. Never tried swf encrypting myself before. But the demo looks promising.
Looks like SWF Protect is easy to use from the screencast…
Can I use it to unprotect the file too? If i have a key password for the protected file? !
Interesting to see this program in action.
Where is the link to download trial?
Well I’ll give it a shot too!
~Will definitely try it
I need it so much
This one sounds interesting !
I want it to protect my flash riddle site
Thanks for this information.
Wow! That’s so good.
I want this too.
very nice, decompilers are a good way of protecting your flash files (if you can afford them)
I want it!
Nice app but quite expensive…
Wow! That’s so good.
